Gordon Hayward Describes The Moment He Broke His Ankle In Horrifying Fashion On Opening Night

By now, the image of Gordon Hayward’s gruesome broken left ankle he suffered on opening night in his first game with his new team is likely burned in your memory forever. Just minutes into his Celtics debut, the 27-year-old went up for a backdoor alley oop thrown by his new teammate Kyrie Irving when his leg got caught beneath him. Minutes later, he was carted off the floor in a stretcher, his ankle as broken as can be, and his much anticipated inauguration in a Celtics uniform shattered with it.

In an extremely incisive post titled ‘In An Instant‘ written by Gordon himself, the All-Star recalls the incident and its aftermath, detailing the physical and emotional pain he experienced as well as the overwhelming support he received from his new teammates and his NBA brotherhood.

If you’re wondering what was going through the mind and body of a man staring at his foot pointing in an unnatural direction, allow Gordon to explain:

Immediately, I knew something was off, but when I landed, it wasn’t a huge amount of pain. I rolled over and saw my foot, and it was pointed in completely the wrong direction. My first thought was, “Oh. This isn’t good. There’s something very wrong here.” I felt a sense of panic come over me and signaled to the ref, “Hey, look at this. You’ve got to stop the game.” And still, it didn’t seem like it was hurting that much.

Then all of a sudden, it came.

It was like once my brain figured out what had happened, I was hit with shots of pain. The training staff came running over to me super fast, but however long it was—three seconds, five seconds—I just remember sitting there, looking at my foot the wrong way, and it felt like an eternity. Dr. Rosneck, the Cavaliers doctor, braced me as he explained that they wanted to try and pop my ankle back into place. I held on, and the moment they did it, there was just a massive shot of pain, probably the most pain I’ve ever felt in my life.

Gordon distinctly remembers the first person to talk to him when he was carted back to the training rooms at the Q Arena to receive X-Rays: Isaiah Thomas, the man who has every right to be spiteful towards every player wearing green.

I can’t remember exactly what he said, but I know he said a prayer for me, like right next to me. He was just there for me. I’ve learned in a short time what a special guy Isaiah is.

Shockingly, Hayward waited for the game to end before heading on the team plane back to Boston, which contains some of the best hospitals on the planet. He had ingested no other pain medication besides Tylenol. He claims the physical pain was eased by the genuine support and encouragement of his brand new teammates–“Their support has at times overwhelmed me and it will not be forgotten.”

Thankfully, Gordon’s injury wasn’t as bad as it could have been. Yes, bones were broken and ligaments were torn, but surgeons were really worried if cartilage had been damaged. If that was the case, it wouldn’t be good. After surgeons opened up his foot, they learned that the cartilage hadn’t been affected. The surgery was a success.

Now, Hayward faces a long road to recovery. He put a hospital bed in the family room so that he could be around Robyn and his two young daughters, Bernie and Charlie, and is getting around just fine on a hospital-issued motorized scooter.

As for getting back to playing basketball, Hayward couldn’t be more eager.

I keep imagining what it’s going to be like to step onto the floor at the Garden, and make my regular season debut as a Celtic. It’s going to be a little delayed. But with each day of my rehab, I’ll be that much closer to making it happen. I’m already dreaming about sharing that moment with everyone here in Boston—a city that I’m still getting to know, but that I’ve connected with through all of this in ways beyond anything I could have imagined.

Now, it’s all about getting back.

Time to begin.

Hopefully Hayward comes back stronger than ever.

Man, that was quite a run Kate Upton had during this 2017 MLB postseason. The Houston Astros also had a good run too I suppose, winning the World Series and all, but Kate Upton, she really showed some true grit in helping them finally win it all for the first time in the team’s 55-year history.

The Michigan native’s ability to smoothly switch allegiance from the Detroit Tigers to the Houston Astros when her fiancé Justin Verlander got traded was truly impressive. It was that kind of quick decision-making that helped the ‘Stros become the champions that they are today.

So naturally, when the Astros finally closed out the World Series in game seven On Wednesday night Upton was right there on the field, wearing her custom-made “Verlander” jean jacket, to help Justin and his teammates celebrate the historic occasion.

There were selfies…

Joel Embiid Didn’t Buy Anything After Signing A $148 Million Extension

Philadelphia 76er and social media superstar Joel Embiid is one of the NBA’s most promising young talents, and his skills on the court recently earned him a $148 million, five-year extension with the team. Nobody said The Process was going to be cheap.

When you come into that amount of money, you’re basically expected to make a bunch of reckless purchases because why the hell wouldn’t you? I’d personally commission a statue of myself to put in the backyard of my giant mansion that has Big Buck Hunter in every room, but the possibilities are basically endless.

However, it appears the 7-foot center isn’t looking to live a lavish lifestyle.

Embiid told ESPN he didn’t make any major purchases after signing the extension because he already has the everything he needs in life:

When asked what he bought for himself after inking the extension, Embiid answered, “Nothing.”

Just before the extension, he purchased a new home for his parents in Cameroon because the old one was filled with painful memories of his brother Arthur, who was struck and killed by a car three years ago. Embiid wasn’t tempted to indulge for himself, either with jewelry, a house or a new car.

“I don’t drive,” he says. “All I really need is my video games and a big-ass TV.”

Now that’s a man who has his priorities straight.

kenneth cole mens watch

This timepiece features a minimalist design but uses incredibly unique color combinations to draw attention without flashiness.

mens dress watch

This timepiece jumped off the page at me. I absolutely love the contrasting use of colors with a stainless steel band, rose gold case, and deep green dial. All of which makes for an incredibly unique look while based around a very clean, minimalistic dial.

I’m a huge fan of this shade of green on dress watches because it stands out in a world of mostly black and white dials. Also, I’ve mentioned before how much I love the look of rose gold on silver stainless steel and this is a great example of that look.

Gotta love the price tag on this watch. The Kenneth Cole Classic will only cost you $95, a steal for such a beautiful timepiece.

DiGiorno Just Put Papa John In The Oven After His Whiny Rant About The NFL Anthem Saga Hurting Sales

Brace yourselves, folks. Papa John is PISSED. Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter attributed his company’s stock price at its lowest point in eight months to the NFL’s mismanagement of the NFL anthem protest saga and its accompanied decline in television ratings. Shares closed at $62.26, down 9%.

“Leadership starts at the top, and this is an example of poor leadership,” Schnatter said. “NFL leadership has hurt Papa John’s shareholders.”

Papa John’s, which has had a sponsorship deal with the NFL since 2010, has pulled some of its ads in response to the protests. The NFL then gave the official pizza of the NFL ad space in the future, NY Post reports.

Papa John’s bitch ass temper tantrum has been a large source of entertainment for his competitors–namely frozen pizza giant DiGiorno.

According to Deadline, other NFL advertisers including as Kohl’s and Buffalo Wild Wings have expressed confidence in the league and claim they are not worried by the controversy or how it has been handled.

So, in conclusion: Papa John is a whiny little bitch who would rather give Peyton Manning a hand job than make a better product. Go home, Papa. You’re drunk.

This Coffee Gator Canister Will Keep Your Grounds Tasting Fresh Forever

Coffee Gator Cannister 2

The best cup of coffee usually comes on the same day you rip open the bag of grounds for the first time. Every cup gets progressively more “ehhh.” It’s not the coffee’s fault. It’s your fridge.

You keep the coffee grounds in the same small areas as leftovers, eggs, milk and all the other food and the smells start to mingle and suddenly your morning coffee tastes like day old General Tso.

If you’re a coffee lover, or just want a decent cup of coffee every morning, invest in this Coffee Gator Canister.

Here are the creators of the cannister explaining what I said but without the Chinese food reference.

Coffee beans naturally emit CO2. But when it comes to storing coffee, CO2 is the enemy. We won’t bore you with the science, but take it from us; CO2 to coffee is like salt to a slug, de-icer to a cat or kryptonite to Superman. This canister has a one-way valve which allows Co2 to leave but stops air and light from entering and attacking flavor.

A Coffee Gator Canister means no more messing about with fiddly coffee packets that tear in the wrong place or split open at will. No more trying (and failing) to keep the packet airtight with sticky tape or elastic bands or clothes pegs. It’s just good coffee every damn day.

armageddon apocalypse nibiru planet x

Shutterstock

Oh sure, there have been a lot of doomsday prophecies over the past couple of years, and yes, none of them have come true, but this time, this time is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY different.

There was that one back in July of 2016, and again in September.

Then there were three more in January of this year.

Another one in February. And a couple more in May.

But that last one was like seven months ago and those other predictions of Armageddon were totally bogus…pffft

According to Metro

On November 19, a group of astronomers claim Nibiru could cause an earthquake so huge it will cause tectonic plates to collide and volcanoes to erupt.

The destruction will hit vulnerable areas ‘all over the world’, they say, with ‘loss of life predicted to be in the millions’.

Nibiru – a theorised mini solar system consisting of a sun and some planets and moons – is alleged to be lurking on the edge of our solar system with a 3,600 year orbit of the sun.

Here’s an artist’s rendering of the dreaded Nibiru, AKA Planet X…

nibiru-planet-x-apocalypse-end-world

Shutterstock

Scary, right?

And yes, I know we’ve all heard about Nibiru, coming to kill us all before…twice…but this time it really is coming.

The group, members of astronomy website Planetxnews.com, say have been closely following the growing number of earthquakes and volcanoes hitting earth in recent weeks.

They say the natural disasters align with the predicted path of Nibiru – and that it has huge gravitational strength.

That…sounds…bad.

Just ignore the fact that NASA has repeatedly said that Nibiru isn’t real.

“The planet in question, Niburu, doesn’t exist, so there will be no collision…the story of Niburu has been around for years (as has the “days of darkness” tale) and is periodically recycled into new apocalyptic fables,” so they claim.

I mean, really, who are you going to believe? NASA or a random group of astronomers/conspiracy theorists. I know which one I will be putting my faith in when it comes to this issue.

What It’s Like To Work With A Professional Handicapper’s Sports Investment Firm

Why Do We Gamble?

We gamble for one reason and one reason only. Believe it or not, that $1 bet in 3rd grade with Pete and the last time you played cards with the boys share a common goal. We gamble to make money. Gambling for any other reason is the closest thing to flushing money down the toilet without literally depositing a check in the bathroom.

Our intent, and the core of why we gamble, is to maximize the return on our investment. Every dollar on the line is a risk and every cashed ticket helps ROI (return on investment). And just like the world of investment banking and trading, the most successful bettors go on to develop systems and programs that help clients minimize risk and maximize returns on sports investments. The same process they use to identify the best betting opportunities can be applied to help grow the wealth of their clientele.

Like traditional investors, the most successful gamblers are those equipped with the knowledge and experience to analyze relevant data points and forecast outcomes. These handicappers find the best opportunities to win and pinpoint situations that provide the greatest value for betters.

Systematic research and data-based decisions are exactly what made Jon Price of Sports Information Traders one of the most famous handicappers and feared (by the casinos) gamblers in the world of sports betting.

“We are no different then the best day traders or hedge fund managers in the world.”

– Jon Price, CEO of Sports Information Traders

Price has cashed on multiple wagers that drew attention from sportsbooks, media, and handicappers alike. For example, Jon placed a $22,000.00 bet on the Kansas City Royals to win the 2015 World Series… IN APRIL! Before the season began, Price risked $22,000 on a bet that cashed him $264,000 in winnings.
So, clearly, this isn’t the self-proclaimed “handicapper” on Twitter that’s DMing you to buy picks because they “hit 88% this season and clients are averaging +74.3 units.” Don’t be tricked or fooled by the self-proclaimed experts, of which there are many.

Price and his team at Sports Information Traders take a data-driven, quantitative approach to handicapping. It’s not as simple as predicting scores and outcomes, but instead identifying where the best value lies in spreads and pinpointing situations where oddsmakers have left themselves vulnerable. Because averaging 50% or more in this business is hugely successful and with the right guidance, betters can profit more going 4-1 on the right bets than going 9-2 on lines with lesser value.

Using Sports Information Traders Services

A few weeks ago, BroBible and Sports Information Traders began chatting which lead to S.I.T. sending some picks to show us just how effective and successful its sports investment services are for its clients. And wow, they weren’t kidding. Hot out of the gate, they go 4-1-1 on the weekend; 2-0-1 in college football and 2-1-0 on NFL picks.

Here is a breakdown of that week’s picks from Sports Information Traders and the why their research supported these selections:

Michigan Wolverines at Indiana Hoosiers

Pick: Michigan -7

Result: Push (UM 27, IU 20)

Long story short, this was just one of their favorite picks for the week without a ton of outside thinking or commentary.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Miami Hurricanes

Pick: Georgia Tech +6.5

Result: Win (GT 24, Miami 25)

The team at Sports Information Traders told us they saw this line as a clear overreaction to the Hurricane’s victory over Florida State.

In the weeks following this game, they’ve noted the value in fading Miami for the game or two following the victory over Florida State. The Hurricanes then went to Syracuse and failed to cover the hefty spread of ~17.5 points.

Missouri Tigers at Georgia Bulldogs

Pick: Over 56.5

Result: Win (UGA 53, Mizzou 28)

The S.I.T. team pointed out that Georgia had been averaging almost 40-points per game going into their home tilt against Missouri. More notably, calling out that Vegas hadn’t yet adjusted for the Bulldog’s offense coming alive.
Georgia went on to nearly cover the total on their own in this game, posting 53 points. The Bulldog’s have since brought their PPG Average against SEC opponents to an impressive 42.4.

San Francisco 49ers at Washington Redskins

Pick: 49ers +11

Result: Win (SF 24, Wash 26)

As Sports Information Traders expected, the 49ers continued the streak of games being decided by 3 -points or less. They predicted this game to come down to the wire and that’s exactly what happened.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arizona Cardinals

Pick: Buccaneers -1.5

Result: Loss (TB 33, Ari 38)

The biggest driving factor for this pick was the line value. The Buccaneers line closed at -2.5 or -3 for most books, so the Sports Information Traders saw the value in taking this line at -1.5 while their clients were able to do so. They distributed the pick on the Friday before the game knowing the line would move towards Tampa Bay having to cover a larger spread.

While S.I.T. is stand up in their picks and believes in winning, and no excuses for losses. I will note that Tampa Bay’s starting quarterback, Jameis Winston left the game in the 2nd quarter with a shoulder injury.

New York Giants at Denver Broncos

Pick: Under 40

Result: Win (NYG 23, Den 10)

This was another line value driven pick by Sports Information Traders. The line would go on to close at 38.5, and in many cases 1.5 points can make a world of difference.

Needless to say, these made for successful weekend and the kind of ROI (return on investment) that Sports Information Traders’ clients have come to expect. But for handicapping services like S.I.T. and its clients, it isn’t successful weekends that matter; it’s successful months, seasons, years, and careers that lead to real impact on financial growth.

After a successful first run, we thought, “Well, it’s just one week. Let’s see them in action again.” So, they sent us picks for last weekend.

Here’s how they did:

Oklahoma State Cowboys at West Virginia Mountaineers

Pick: WVU +7.5

Result: Loss (WVU 39, OK St 50)

The team at S.I.T. saw this game as a situation where the wrong team was favored and expected the line to lose value as it could potentially move from WVU +7.5 to WVU +6.5 by kickoff.

The Mountaineers tripped out of the gate as they struggled to get their scoring started. West Virginia’s inability to convert 3rd-down opportunities and capitalize on turnovers kept them behind the entire game, and losing against the spread for more than half.

Georgia Bulldogs vs Florida Gators

Pick: UGA -13

Result: Win (UGA 42, UF 7)

More line value here as the Bulldogs have been a team on the rise and were seeking revenge against the Gators for the past three years. This was a cakewalk, this bet never even sniffed danger as Georgia lead 21-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and shut out the Gators until the final 3-minutes of play.

Indianapolis Colts vs Cincinnati Bengals

Pick: Over 41

Result: Win (Indi 23, Cinci 24)

With the Colts ranking 30th in Total Defense and Jacoby Brissett running the show on the other side of the ball, S.I.T. was this game was primed for the over.

While this bet involved a little more sweating than the Georgia game, it helped secure another winning weekend.

All told, Sports Information Traders provided us full transparency on 9 of their selections over a two week period.

The results: 6 Wins, 2 Losses, and 1 Push.

Impressive. Very impressive.

In an industry filled with claims of glamorous success and Touts who may claim unreasonable success rates, Price and his team believe in full transparency and documentation. David Michaels, Regional Director at Sports Information Traders told us “Anyone in this industry who tells you they win 90% or 80% of their selections over a long-term period are only fooling themselves. Bankroll management and a winning percentage well above 60% is what we strive to achieve.”

The selections his team sent us prior to publishing this column clearly back that up. While the results are impressive in their own right, the transparency and communication from the Sports Information Traders team were second to none.

Our two week of working with S.I.T. gave us a glimpse into the first-class experience and results that they provide to their clients on a week-to-week basis.

Sports As A Science, Not A Show

As much as we all claim to know the most about certain teams or sports, so few see the games for what they are: a decipherable science.

Price has built the team at Sports Information Traders by hiring Ph.D.’s with experience in fields like statistics, computer science, mathematics, or physics. The type of people who aren’t fans of the teams or leagues but can analyze data sets and make plays that help clients grow their wealth.

“I only hire winners. If you don’t eat, sleep, and breathe this stuff, then you’re not for our team. We take this business and our clients’ very seriously and very personal. People come to us to help grow their hard-earned fortunes into bigger fortunes, and when you’re dealing with someone’s lifelong investment, you don’t take that kind of thing lightly.”

– Jon Price, CEO of Sports Information Traders

For me, the consistency of calculated plays from sports investment professionals like S.I.T. brings an entire new aspect of financial opportunity to sports betting. I mentioned before, bettors with the right guidance can profit more from a 4-1 day than a 9-2 weekend with the help of a sports analytical service like Sports Information Traders. When I got the chance to use picks from S.I.T., I saw a safer and larger return by investing in their plays going 2-1 then I have ever experienced. Even weekends with more winners, I diluted my financial returns because I lacked the confidence and guidance that I experienced when using a sports investment service.

Finding value, minimizing risks, and maximizing returns through quantitative research is what S.I.T. does for its clients. They know people work hard for their money and they’re serious about increasing their wealth through investing, and not through fandom or luck.

The massively successful multiplayer competitive shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is coming to Xbox One. Microsoft, which became PUBG‘s publisher earlier this year, is bringing the super popular battle royale survival shooter video game to the Xbox One. The Hunger Games-esque PUBG will be available on December 12th, through the Xbox Game Preview program. The game will be available for the Xbox One X and it will be enhanced for the upgraded console. Microsoft said the game will be an Xbox One X Enhanced3, with “High Dynamic Range technology to bring out the true visual depth of the battleground.” PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox One version is currently playable at Paris Games Week.

The press release stated: “various Xbox One features and functionality will change and come online over time just like they have on PC, with our goal being to have both versions align to each other as soon as possible.” The Xbox edition of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will have three different limited-edition cosmetic packs available at the time of launch including the PUBG Warrior Pack, the PUBG Accessory Pack, and the PUBG Tracksuit Pack. At the time of the Xbox One launch, the desert map will not be available. The press release added, “there are no plans to feature any in-game purchases in the Xbox Game Preview version” of PUBG. The Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will cost $29.99.

From Microsoft:

Parachute onto a massive remote island with nothing but your wits and the clothes on your back. Explore your terrain, loot supplies, locate weapons, and use vehicles to gear up and take on the competition in fast-paced combat. Emerge as the lone survivor in a thrilling experience full of unexpected, adrenaline-pumping moments. Game box includes digital token card.

Sadly for PlayStation 4 gamers there is news of the popular shoot’em up coming to Sony’s gaming console. PUBG beta launched on Steam in March and has sold more than 8 million copies since. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds became the most played game on Stream in August, outpacing Dota.

4 Ways To Avoid Holiday Weight Gain This Year

$
0
0

Tikkho Maciel -Unsplash

This year millions of people are resolving to get healthier, get to the gym more, and drop the pounds that they packed on over the holidays. Sadly, statistics say that roughly 95-98% of those people will fail. I don’t want you to fail.

Instead, this should be the year that those statistics take a hit. In a perfect world everyone would end 2017 looking better than ever before and all the statisticians who compile numbers would be wondering what in the world got into the population.

I get that’s a bit naïve, but I’m a bit of a dreamer.

The holidays are full of gluttony to the fullest extent. From Thanksgiving through the end of New Years life feels like one big gigantic meal. There’s always a holiday party to go to, family to see, and booze to drink.

It’s no wonder that people tend to add anywhere from 1-5lbs over the holidays, and never lose it. That stat isn’t hyperbole. The vast majority of weight that people gain takes place exclusively during the holiday season.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think you have to be apart of that statistic. Just to prove that, here are 4 ways you can shed that weight gained over the holidays.

1)   Start building serious muscle.

This seems a bit counterintuitive, because building muscle sounds like gaining weight, which can be completely true. But there’s another side to that coin.

Not only can you build muscle without packing on a ton of fat, but building muscle can actually help you get leaner.

In a previous post I talked a bit about the myth of the slow metabolism, and why it’s not as simple as it seems. It’s true, not everyone has a slow metabolism. It’s also true that you can speed your metabolism up to burn more calories throughout the day.

What’s one of the biggest keys to making that happen? Building muscle. One pound of muscle typically burns about 3x more calories per day than one pound of fat. To be fair, we are talking about somewhat small numbers here. 6 and 2 calories per pound, respectively.

But when that’s factored out across someone’s entire frame on top of the calories they burn per day just staying alive, doing cardio, or whatever else we wind up with a significant change in total calorie burn.

2)   Set some external accountability.

Take it from a Personal Trainer, one of the only reasons people hire us is because they need accountability. For the most part, people understand how to train. And the majority of people definitely understand what a good diet consists of, even if we’re inundated with dietary confusion day in and day out.

Most people struggle with staying accountable, and that’s where we come in. This is your secret weapon.

Find yourself a source of accountability. Someone or something that won’t let you skip out on your training session or eat that dessert when you’ve already eaten dessert three times this week.

It could be scheduling a vacation two months from now, scheduling a photoshoot, or hiring a Personal Trainer. It doesn’t matter; all that matters is that you find a something that will hold you accountable.

It’s easy to skimp on responsibilities when you are the only person who knows. The same can’t be said if you’re checking in with a trainer or hanging out shirtless on the beach.

3)   Make momentum work for you.

New Years resolutions usually start off the same way. People start off more motivated than ever, and a couple of weeks later they’ve completely burned out and slipped back into their old lifestyle.

This is especially true following the holidays, when life has resembled one long party. Instead of trying to white knuckle your way through the New Year, build some momentum by piling up little wins.

Little wins are a favorite concept to use with clients. The premise goes like this: set up little things that you can do throughout your day that bring you closer to your goal or support a healthy lifestyle. The smaller the win the better.

It could be something as simple as drinking a glass of water right when you wake up or having a protein shake for breakfast. What matters is that you get a win, celebrate that win, and then move on to your next win.

The power in this system lies in the fact that after a few days you’ve probably piled up quite a few wins. Once you start winning you don’t want to stop, so that momentum keeps you moving.

Even better, if you slip up all you have to do to get back on track is find your next little win.

4)   Don’t be scared of cardio.

It’s popular to bash on cardio, but if your goal is health and fat loss, there’s no reason to shy away from it.

Cardio has a whole host of benefits, including making you better in the gym. If you’ve got a more efficient cardiovascular system you can have more productive lifting sessions. If you have more productive lifting sessions you’ll wind up with a better body.

Cardio also happens to be an excellent tool for burning calories. Should you rely on it solely for burning calories? The answer is a resounding no. Can cardio be a tool to help you drop fat though? Absolutely.

Shoot for adding in 2-3 HIIT sessions a week towards the end of your workouts and your fat loss efforts will get much easier.

The Awesome Mr. Clarke On ‘Stranger Things’ Looks A Bit Different From The Character In Real Life

Mr. Clarke is one of the most underrated characters on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. How he interacts with the kids is how I wish all of my teachers had been when I was in grade school.

I mean, jeez, he lets them call him at home to ask “science” questions, and actually seems interested!

Without Mr. Clarke being a sort of glue that ties much of the supernatural stuff together for the kids the show would be very different.

That being said, the man who plays him, Randy Havens, is a little bit different from Scott Clarke in real life. (I had no idea his name was Scott until just now.)

For one thing, he looks very little like Mr. Clarke when he’s not working on Stranger Things.

For another, he doesn’t really know a whole lot about science.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t still some parallels between Havens and Clarke, because there definitely are.

First off, based on the Reddit AMA Havens did a year ago, he really does seem to be very thoughtful and nice. In fact, he sounds a whole lot like Mr. Clarke in his answers.

Q: Did you bring the moustache into the show, or did the show bring out your inner moustache? What about the sweater vests? You just look so natural in them, you make me, as a teacher, want to bring back that look.

A: Haha Shawn Levy once told me the mustache was a BIG FACTOR in me getting hired, so I definitely brought it to the show. I grew it for an AMC series called Halt and Catch Fire and ended up having it for about a year. I’m so glad it helped me get this part.

I used to wear sweater vests. I had a professor in college tell me that I must secretly be dangerous because I’d have to be brave to dress the way that I did. So be brave and wear sweater vests! Also, the on-set teacher for the kids and Mr. Clarke had almost the exact same style. It was amazing.

Q: Hello thank you for doing this! What would be the dating tips of Mr Clarke ?

A: Be yourself and love what you do and the right person will come into your life!

Q: Obligatory “Why are you keeping this curiosity door locked?”

On a more serious note, did you do anything in particular to prepare for your role? And was the moustache real?

A: I’ll keep it open for you guys!

Mostly I just tried to keep my heart open, as Mr. Clarke is so kind and seems to live his life from a place of openness and kindness. I went through a breakup a week before we started shooting, so that definitely helped me stay connected to that emotionally honest part of me. Although I definitely cried a lot more than I normally would have!

The mustache was CGI.

That last part was a joke, obv.

Before Stranger Things, Havens appeared on shows like Halt and Catch Fire, Sleepy Hollow, and done voice-work as Mr. Rompers on Archer.

Next up on his schedule is a TV series called Living the Dream and the films Godzilla: King of Monsters, Boy Erased and The Front Runner.

Plus, of course, (hopefully) Stranger Things 3.

Now check out how different Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) and Barb (Shannon Purser) look like in real life.

Most Expensive Shot Of Whisky Ever Sold Turned Out To Be Fake, Wasn’t Really 139-Years-Old

There’s a scandal surrounding the most expensive single shot of whiskey ever sold. The most expensive single shot in history was sold for 9,999 Swiss Francs at the Devil’s Place Whisky Bar in Switzerland’s Waldhaus Hotel. With over 2,5000 bottles, the Devil’s Place Whisky Bar holds the Guinness World Record for the largest whiskey bottle collection in the world (they have 47 Macallan options alone!). Adjusting for the exchange rate, the single shot of supposed 139-year-old Macallan came out to just over $10,000 USD.

The $10,000 shot was supposed to be a 139-year-old scotch whiskey from Macallan. The label on the bottled showed 1878. The hotel thought the whiskey was real but some were skeptical due to some incongruities with the bottle’s label and cork.

The shot was purchased by a millionaire from China by the name of Zhang Wei, and he’s since been refunded by the hotel for his $10,000 shot after the detective work discovered that the whiskey wasn’t 139-years-old at all. The bottle and Macallan whiskey were actually from 1972. A 45-year-old Macallan is one fine whiskey, but it’s not worth anywhere close to $10,000 for a single shot. After finding out the whiskey was fake, the manager of the Waldaus Hotel personally flew to China to reimburse the millionaire in person.

They discovered the whiskey wasn’t actually 139-years-old after sending information to some scotch experts in Scotland. That’s when they discovered that it was likely a blended scotch that was bottled at some point between 1970 and 1972. The millionaire who initially paid $10K for a single shot but was later reimbursed said he wasn’t mad at all, and thanked the hotel for their candor.

For what it’s worth, the most valuable/expensive bottle of Macallan in the world was a special collector’s blend which sold at auction in Hong Kong back in 2014 for $630,000 to a private collector. So, while $10,000 is an insanely high price for a single shot of whiskey it’s not unfathomable when you consider that there’s a bottle out there which sold for $630,000.

A Writer Had An Absurd Interaction With A Guy Who’s Mad He Has The Same Name As Aaron Gordon

Aaron Gordon is a member of the Orlando Magic who’s probably known best for his insane performance in the 2016 NBA Slam Dunk Contest and breaking the ankles of small children who should know better than to try to defend an NBA player. Kids can be so dumb sometimes.

Aaron Gordon is also a reporter for the Village Voice who just so happens to share a name with the NBA player. On Wednesday, he posted an interaction he had with a guy who slid into his DMs who was pissed the writer had the gall to have the same name. Anyone’s ever been on Twitter knows just how dumb people can be, but this conversation might take the cake.

I really, really want to believe this guy is trolling Gordon, but if I’ve learned anything during my time on the internet, it’s to never underestimate man’s capacity for stupidity.

Word eventually got around to the other Gordon, who seemed thoroughly entertained by the exchange.

I can only hope the guy who complained never reproduces.

For The First Time In 22 Years Hershey’s Releases A New Flavor And It Isn’t Chocolate

Are you still eating candy for breakfast that was left over from Halloween because you purposely bought too much of for the simple fact that you wanted to be piggish and gorge on candy all week? Well, good news, once you finish up those three 5-pound bags of candy you bought from Costco, it will be time to buy a new candy, and Hershey’s has got you covered. Introducing Hershey’s Gold, the company’s first new candy in 22 years and only their fourth confection bearing its namesake. Oddly, Hershey’s Gold is not even chocolate.

Starting Dec. 1, Hershey’s Gold will be available and it sounds delicious. It’s made with caramelized crème that feature salty peanut and pretzel bits. Hershey’s said the Gold bar features a buttery taste topped off with a creamy and crunchy, multi-textured finish. “The buttery, sweet taste of Hershey’s Gold bars provides an entirely new way for consumers to enjoy our brand,” said Melinda Lewis, senior director/general manager of Hershey’s Franchise at The Hershey Company. “We use a proprietary cooking process to transform the white creme into a golden bar by caramelizing the creme, which helps maintain a sweet, creamy taste.”

The Hershey’s Gold bar is, of course, using its catchy name as a marketing opportunity. The release of the candy bar comes on the 100-day countdown of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, which begins in February and Hershey’s is an official sponsor of the games.

Hershey’s released their first bar, the milk chocolate Hershey’s Bar in 1900, then the Hershey’s Special Dark chocolate in 1939, and most recently the Hershey’s Cookies ‘n Crème candy bar in 1995. Better get working on all that Halloween candy to make room for all of the Hershey’s Gold that you’re going to buy and chow down on.

Here Are The Easter Eggs You Might’ve Missed In ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2

Stranger Things Season 2 Episode 7 The Lost Sister Explanation

Netflix

This is my obligatory ‘if you haven’t finished watching Stranger Things Season 2 yet there are spoilers ahead’ notice. This is about all of the hidden easter eggs throughout Stranger Things 2, and that means we’ll be looking at the entire season and not just the first episode. So, if you’re not done binge-watching Season 2 yet and don’t want anything spoiled you might want to head out and/or bookmark this for later….Moving on.

One of the things that makes Netflix’s Stranger Things series so good is the layers upon layers of nostalgia, 80’s references, and easter eggs that are hidden throughout. Season 1 blew everyone away with all of the nods to iconic 70’s and 80’s Sci-Fi and Horror films. We all expected to see more of the same in Season 2 and the Duffer brothers delivered:

This clip from the Looper YouTube channel takes a look at *most* of the easter eggs hidden throughout Stranger Things 2. As they point out in the beginning of the video, it would’ve been just as fast to list every single possible reference because there are so many of them. Instead, they dove deep on the awesome easter eggs you *might’ve* missed. I don’t want to list all of the easter eggs here because that’s be jacking Looper’s video, so I’ll just stop rambling and let you bros watch the video.

Doc Rivers’ Story About Trying To Get Tossed From A Game To Watch Tiger Woods In The Masters Is A Must-Watch

$

We’ve all been there. Huddled around a television or laptop during a big time sporting event when we’re supposed to be mindlessly throwing data in an Excel spreadsheet. For those couple hours, we feel like Andy Dufresne escaping Shawshank. Like Eleven leaving Jim Hopper’s shitty cabin in the woods.

Doc Rivers is no different. When Doc sat down for his pre-game press conference yesterday before his Clippers took on the Mavs, he knew that he would miss Game 7 of the World Series. He lamented back to his days coaching the Celtics, when he tried to get tossed from the game to watch Tiger make a run at the Masters.

As transcribed by USA Today:

“When I was coaching the Celtics, I think there were four games left in the season — everything had been wrapped up as far as playoffs,” Rivers said. “The Masters was on. And at halftime, (general manager) Danny Ainge tells me that Tiger’s making a run. He says, ‘Get thrown out! Get thrown out and come back and watch with me.’

“So I go out and, this is like the first play in the third quarter, I go for it, like yelling and ‘ahhh!’ And I want to say it was (referee) Jake O’Donnell, but I’m not sure who it was. And he just stares at me. Nothing.

“Then during the free throw, he tells me to come over. He says, ‘I want to watch it, too.’”

Back then, Doc’s contract extension with the Celtics made him the highest paid coach in the NBA, raking in $35 million over the that five year stretch. This just proves that no amount of money can erase the ‘fuck it’ factor in the workplace.

first date locations pros cons list

A guy on the internet, a very funny and ambitious guy, named Matt Shirley attempts to create one chart every day and share it on Instagram.

Sometimes they’re lists, sometimes they’re graphs, there are even some Venn diagrams and flowcharts. And pretty much all of them are tremendously entertaining.

However, since dating is such a hot-button issue these days (not for me, I have loads of girlfriends) a list Shirley created showing the pros and cons for potential first date locations caught my attention and if you are anything like me you’re going to absolutely love it.

Awesome.

Also, since, you know, he has to make a chart every day, he also made one for possible “last date” locations. Check this out…

That one might be even better, no?

Here’s a chart he made for Halloween that’s scary accurate…

Dana White Says Conor McGregor Will Return To The UFC By The End Of 2017

It’s been close to a year since Conor McGregor has fought in the UFC. After defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 last November, he decided to try his hand at boxing in a bout with Floyd Mayweather that ended exactly how virtually everyone predicted.

There’s been plenty of speculation about McGregor’s next move, but if Dana White is to be believed, the Irishman will step into the Octagon before the end of 2017. White told TMZ Sports “We’re planning on it. He wants to and we want him to, so we’ll see what happens.”

McGregor has previously said he won’t come back to the UFC unless he’s allowed to be a co-promoter. If he does return, it’s likely he’ll fight interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. The two would likely he would fight at UFC 219, which is scheduled for December 30th and currently has no one slotted to compete in the main event.
