After the Cleveland Indians completed a three-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox on Monday, Pedro Martinez made a pretty terrible joke at the expense of Native Americans.
During the Indians-Red Sox postgame show, the Hall of Fame pitcher talked about how he “used to hunt Indians” when he played baseball. He then “paid tribute” to the Indians by doing an offensive and stereotypical war cry.
Of course Martinez made these comments on Columbus Day, the controversial holiday that has been criticized by many because of its celebration of Italian explorer Christopher Columbus despite his treatment of Native Americans.
