For the past several years, Cavs superstar LeBron James has gone into this whole “playoff mode” mentality, trying to limit outside distractions as much as possible and playing like a man on a fucking mission. That meant Bron Bron would go absolutely dark on social media once the playoffs started, even posting two separate messages on Twitter and Instagram last year of nothing more than a black screen.

However, this season might be different, as James hinted following practice today that he still isn’t sure if he’ll shut it down on social media, telling ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:

“I don’t know,” James said after the team’s practice on Friday. “In the past I haven’t done it until like the night before the game anyways. So, we don’t play until Sunday, so I still have a day, two days actually to figure out what I’m going to do.

“But, it doesn’t matter, if I’m on social media, if I’m off social media I’m going to be locked in anyway, so I’m not worried about that.”

Considering LeBron has caused a stir on social media over the past few months alone with all the cryptic sub-tweets and Instagram posts about playing with his best friends in the league, Cavs fans might want to hold their breath and pray that James decides to take a break from tossing his thoughts into the Interwebs. Seriously, what would happen if the Cavs find themselves in some adversity and he starts going ape shit on guys like Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love again?

The fact is this, though, at this point in his career, LeBron’s measured by rings and nothing else—and he knows that—so whether or not he uses social media or not doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. That is, unless it becomes a major distraction like it has in the past.
