Tis the season for people to come up with their most clever Halloween costumes, right? Well, forget all that. Maybe 1 out of every 100 people, if that, actually come up with an idea that we haven’t seen before and/or is interesting enough to impress.

For us, Halloween season is really all about the dozens upon dozens of funny, crazy, and ridiculously elaborate pumpkin carving art that people create.

Year after year creative geniuses out there somehow manage to top the previous year, blowing our minds with their skills, ideas, and artistry by creating amazingly unique and highly detailed Jack O’Lanterns.

SeungBeom Cho has set a new Rubik’s Cube world record by solving the puzzle cube in a blistering fast 4.59-seconds. He set this record on camera, and while competing in the Chicago ChicaGhosts 2017 Rubik’s Cube competition. The room full of fellow Rubik’s Cube competitors were stunned by his feat and honored the 23-year-old from South Korea with a standing ovation for his new Rubik’s Cube world record:

It had barely been a month since the last time the Rubik’s Cube world record was broken when Patrick Ponce solved the cube with a time of 4.69 seconds. Going back to last year, the record was 4.73 seconds.

When you’re dealing with tiny fractions of a second, the jump from 4.73 to 4.59 seconds in under a year is a pretty significant improvement. I think it’s also proof that the Rubik’s Cube world record is pretty much a crapshoot at the highest level. They’re all incredibly talented puzzle solvers, and to set the world record also requires a great deal of luck.

I’m not trying to take away from SeungBeom Cho’s Rubik’s Cube world record. He earned that. But when you take this world record in context it’s clear that there was some luck involved. SeungBeom Cho achieved his 4.59-second Rubik’s Cube world record in his first round of the competition. Each round of the competition involves five solve attempts where the ‘Best’ and ‘Average’ scores are recorded. He averaged 7.54 for that first round because he had one attempt that was nearly 10 seconds and another that was 8 seconds. His averages for the rounds were 7.54, 8.73, 7.95, and 8.66 seconds for the four rounds of the competition so this 4.59-second world record was clearly an anomaly. Adam Driver gave an interview with British GQ for their December issue and some interesting tidbits were revealed. The Star Wars actor who portrays Kylo Ren talked about killing Han Solo in The Force Awakens and also may have spilled a spoiler about Rey’s parents that Daisy Ridley said we will definitely discover in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Driver instantly became a despised figure after Kylo Ren thrust his red lightsaber into the chest of his very own father, Han Solo. Driver described watching the moment in Episode VII when his character committed patricide during the premiere. “When I watched the premiere, I felt sick to my stomach… Immediately, I thought I was going to puke,” Driver told GQ. “I was holding my wife [Joanne Tucker]’s hand, and she’s like, ‘You’re really cold. Are you OK?’ Because I just knew what was coming – I kill Harrison Ford – and I didn’t know how this audience of 2,000 people was going to respond to it, you know?”

Driver may have also dropped a major spoiler about Rey’s parents that Star Wars fans have been wondering since The Last Jedi debuted nearly two years ago. “You have, also, the hidden identity of this princess who’s hiding who she really is so she can survive and Kylo Ren and her hiding behind these artifices,” Driver said. GQ adds, “Apparently dropping a massive revelation about Rey’s royal origins.”

The “hidden princess” could very well mean his own mother Princess Leia of Alderaan, played by the late Carrie Fisher. But the 33-year-old actor may be referencing Rey, giving a clue to her parentage. That could mean that Princess Rey could be with a royal family such as the Organas, Palpatines or Skywalkers. Meaning Rey could be Kylo’s sister or maybe the daughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore.

The Star Wars Reddit posted a link to a Yahoo article from Japan where Daisy Ridley, the actress that plays Rey, hinted that The Last Jedi will reveal her character’s parentage. “About the relationship between Luke and Rey, among the fans the theory that two people are father and daughter is raised. Daisy, who said that the answer will be revealed in The Last Jedi,” the article says. Ridley adds, “Whatever the answer is, I hope everyone will enjoy that moment, I knew the answer from a few years ago but the story created by Rian Johnson is such a wonderful thing that it’s unpredictable and to be honest, I was very touched”

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on December 15. Is it December 15th yet?

In news reminiscent of when Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater gruesomely injured up his leg, it is now being reported that Bears tight end Zach Miller, who suffered a grotesque leg injury on Sunday, is in some danger of losing his leg, just like Bridgewater was.

Of course, Bridgewater’s injury happened in a practice and amazingly, video of it has never been released. Miller’s injury, on the other hand, happened on TV and millions of NFL fans got to witness it. (You can watch it here if you are so inclined. Miller also got hosed by the referees for his trouble as well.)

On Monday, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen released a statement that doctors are concerned that Zach Miller is in some danger of being forced to have his leg amputated.

Miller reportedly had to undergo emergency vascular surgery due to the artery damage his leg sustained in the injury, which involved grafting tissue from his right leg to repair the artery in his left leg.

In an unsettling bit of irony, here are the shoes Miller was wearing on Sunday…

This operation was necessary because Miller’s knee was so far out of place that his artery was torn.

The popliteal artery is behind the knee, and is the one damaged. The problem is that is the only main blood supply to the leg below the knee. It is like having the only bridge to an island go out.

This was a true emergency.

Blood flow needs to be restored within hours, and the surgery sometimes takes several hours.

Thus, the Bears medical staff with the cooperation of the Saints doctors should be applauded.

Given the early action, the hope and expectation is that his leg will be saved. His medical issues and need for further surgery is not over, but his NFL career undoubtedly is.

A knee dislocation this severe is, fortunately, a relatively rare occurrence. And it is virtually impossible to return from.

The Patriots squeaked out a 21-13 victory over the 3-5 Chargers on Sunday at Gillette Stadium, with Tom Brady posting his fifth 300-plus yard game of the season in the Pats fourth straight win. For the most part, it was a sloppy win. Credit some of that to the Nor’easter elements and some for the Patriots continued inability to stop the run–Chargers’ Melvin Gordon ran for 132 yards rushing on just 14 carries with an 87-yard touchdown in the losing effort.

Despite being 6-2, the Pats have kept things interesting for its spoiled fan base this year, with their defense looking flat out soft at times, while showing flashes of greatness at others. It’s unsettling for a team who gave up the fewest points of any defense last year to let opposing passers to throw for 300-plus yards in each of the team’s first six games. And, with the Bills nipping at the Patriots’ heels in the AFC East at 5-2, the Patriots’ road to their ninth straight AFC East title is looking a bit more dicey.

Belichick knows that his team will have to play more consistent if they look to capture another AFC title, never mind a Super Bowl, and a reporter in the post-game presser passive aggressively reminded him of that. Belichick, true to form, treated him like a telemarketer calling on Thanksgiving.

Shake it off bro, Bill isn’t mad at you for your question, he’s just disappointed. Much worse.

It’s official–Deshaun Watson is for real. In the most exciting game of the NFL season against the Seahawks, the 22-year-old Texans rookie became the first player with 400-plus passing yards, four touchdowns, and 50-plus rushing yards in a single game. Watson also smashed Kurt Warner’s record by throwing 19 touchdowns through the first seven games of the season. And the Texans somehow lost, 41-38.

Watson’s opposing QB, Russell Wilson, had himself a career game as well. Russell posted his first 400-yard passing game since his career began in 2012–throwing for 453 yards–68 yards more than his previous best. The total combined offensive production for both teams on the day: 988 yards.

Following the game, Seahawks’ stars had high praise for the rookie QB.

“Deshaun Watson is special,” Wilson said after the game. “Go ahead and give him Rookie of the Year. He’s a great player.”

Richard Sherman was spotted embracing Watson after the game for a good long while. When asked by a reporter what he told him, Sherman said:

“I’ll tell you,” Sherman said. “‘You played the best game any quarterback has ever played against us, and we’ve played all the legends. I respect how you hung in there and kept battling and battling.’”

“My God, Houston’s so lucky. By next year he’s going to be a top-five quarterback in this league, and that includes the two big dogs [Brady and Rodgers]. He makes you dig to the deepest part of your competitive juices to beat him.”

That’s coming from a dude whose played Tom Brady three times and Aaron Rodgers five times.

While meeting with fans at LA Comic-Con to talk about his upcoming film Jumanji over the weekend, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was asked, once again, what his thoughts were on potentially running for President of the United States.

What prompted this line of questioning was the fact that about six months ago, in an interview with GQ, our man DJ revealed that he was giving the idea some serious consideration.

Last June, when The Washington Post published an op-ed suggesting he could be a viable candidate, Johnson posted a screen grab and gave the idea a boost. On Instagram, he called the Post piece “interesting” and “fun to read,” adding that “the most important thing right now is strong honest leadership from our current and future leaders of this country.”

Since then, Johnson tells me, he’s given the question more thought. “A year ago,” he says, “it started coming up more and more. There was a real sense of earnestness, which made me go home and think, ‘Let me really rethink my answer and make sure I am giving an answer that is truthful and also respectful.’ I didn’t want to be flippant—‘We’ll have three days off for a weekend! No taxes!’”

So, after all that consideration, Johnson doesn’t hesitate when I ask him whether he honestly might one day give up his life as the highest-paid movie star on earth—which is unquestionably easier, more fun, and more lucrative than being president of the United States—in order to run for office. “I think that it’s a real possibility,” he says solemnly.

A couple of months later, a man named Kenton Tilford in West Virginia filed with the Federal Election Commission to create a committee called “Run the Rock 2020.”

So, when an audience member at LA Comic-Con asked Johnson if he was, in fact, going to run for President, he didn’t shoot the idea down.

“I think the ‘People’s President’ has a really nice ring to that. I’ll just say that,” said the most electrifying man in America.

MTV has released the first teaser trailer for Floribama Shore. It’s essentially Jersey Shore it takes place in Panama City Beach in the Florida Panhandle, aka the Redneck Riviera. The show is all but promising to be a complete and utter shit show, and as far as the format goes it’ll virtually mirror MTV’s original Jersey Shore.

We don’t really get to see much in terms of plot or characters in the first trailer. All we see is a duck phone and a gator phone, but with the volume on we hear audio of cast members partying their asses off just like Ronnie and The Situation on The Jersey Shore:

Floribama Shore will premiere on November27th at 10/9c, just a few weeks away. It’s unclear what took so long for MTV to promote this how but my hunch is they didn’t want to step on the toes of Siesta Key a show which takes place in my hometown and is also a flaming pile of garbage, one that’s also been plagued by issues surrounding one of the main cast members with ties to torturing a shark….Bad press and scandals aside, Siesta Key was renewed for 8 more episodes so I guess people were watching.

I’m starting to wonder if MTV has a vendetta against the state of Florida. Why else would they produce multiple TV shows in the Sunshine State which give the impression that the entire state is a 24/7/365 shit show. Also, why would they choose Panama City Beach for this show when you can’t even drink on the beach anymore in PCB and it’s no longer a Spring Break hotspot because of that? If you’re looking for a fun but trashy beach town to film a show in then why not go ot Myrtle Beach?

It’s why the biggest, most successful companies on the planet are not immune to colossal failures. You may remember Facebook’s first mobile app being slow and buggy, with the app crashing constantly. Zuckerberg would later say it was “probably one of the biggest mistakes we’ve ever made.” Now, Facebook has 1.65 billion monthly active users, 54% who only access the service on mobile.

Scott Galloway, professor of marketing at NYU Stern and the author of “The Four: The Hidden DNA of Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google”, delved into the psychology of failure and how it correlates to success. He had this to say, via Business Insider:

So there’s a famous chart that shows, it says, what people think success is and it has a straight upward line and then what success really is and it’s a jagged, multi-art adventure. And that is accurate.

If you are not in your own professional life and your professional career kind of wiping out and getting beaned in the face every once in awhile you aren’t trying hard enough. And these companies are great at failure.

They’re fantastic at taking big risk. Putting metrics on them and just as importantly pulling the plug and performing infanticide on projects that aren’t working and then moving on to the next thing. Whether it was auctions or the phone with Amazon or Facebook and some of their targeting, all of these companies have had huge missteps, but it just doesn’t matter because they on average win. They have a great batting average. And as Jeff Bezos said they’ll take a risk, a one-in-ten risk if they think it can pay off 100x.

That isn’t the way traditional companies think. Old economy companies typically won’t green light anything unless it has more than a 50% chance of winning, and then even worse than that, after it’s launched, and it’s become the pet project of people at the top, everyone else enters into consensual hallucination with the CEO that this thing is working and sometimes let this kind of gross, ugly child live longer than it should.

So, one, these companies are more disciplined about taking more risk, but they’re also more disciplined about pulling the plug on these things.

So there you have it bros. Go out there and fail the fuck out of life. I’ve already got a jumpstart on ya.

Before we get into this video, which is amazing, by the way, I have a question. Do you think the world would survive if somehow, someone were able to get Jeff Goldblum and Nicolas Cage together in the same room to talk about existentialism or the meaning of life, or would the dimension we live in just crater and implode on itself?

Sorry, I’ve just always wondered about that.

Anyhoo, on to the original point of you being here today: Jeff Goldblum viewing tattoos that people have gotten of him and then offering his very insightful, and, uh, unique critiques and opinions of them.

I don’t know who came up with this idea, but they deserve some kind of award for the sheer genius of it.

“My name is Jeff Goldblum and I’m gonna look at some tattoos. I specifically said don’t show me before we do this, so this is all gonna be a spontaneous surprise to me, and you’ll see my natural reaction as I see these pictures,” Goldblum begins after making a “tooting his own horn” joke.

“What the heck is this?” Goldblum asks when the first tattoo is revealed. “I’ve never seen this before in my life, nor do I know this shot, and I suspect it’s a mock-up. I don’t like to wear a tattersall shirt. Why wear that tattersall shirt? I have strong feelings about fashion, as you may or may not know.

“And what’s this chain, this sort of rapper’s chain, around my neck? I don’t know what they’re getting at there, but I like it’s obtuseness, and it’s darkness. I give it 10 Goldblums out of a possible 10 Goldblums.”

And it only gets better from there…

During last night’s epic game 5 of the World Series, Dodgers star Yasiel Puig hit a 2-run homer to bring the Dodgers within one run of tying the Houston Astros in the ninth inning.

One female Astros fan was excited after catching Puig’s home run ball but was immediately shocked when the man sitting a few feet next to her snatched the ball away from her to throw it back on the field.

After the game, MLB.com caught up with both people in the video and it turns out that it was a family affair.

But that’s only half the story. Here’s the rest: Her name is Sarah Head and she’s mad only because she didn’t get to throw it back herself.

“I would have liked the opportunity to throw it back myself,” Head told Yahoo Sports.

Turns out the guy who took the ball from her was her brother-in-law, Kirk Head. Sarah said she knew he was going to take it and throw it back.

So why did Kirk do it?

I stole it and threw it back on the field where it needs to be!

Apparently Kirk is making up for the steeling the ball from his sister-in-law by taking her out for a spa day with his wife.
