Usain Bolt Partied His Face Off At The Club With His Girlfriend Now That He’s Officially Retired

If there are two things we know for sure about the best sprinter ever Usain Bolt it’s (1) he’s ridiculously fast and (2) bro REALLY knows how to party. The bender he went on after winning more Olympic gold in Rio in 2016 was the stuff of legends, which somehow seems appropriate considering he is one.

However, now he’s just another guy – a guy with eight Olympic gold medals – after he pulled up with a hamstring injury in his final race on Saturday night. Something his team blamed on the event’s organizers.

That being said, Bolt seemed to be recovering quite nicely from his injury as he went at it HARD at the Cirque le Soir nightclub in London with his girlfriend Kasi Bennett.

Frustrated Jags’ WR Allen Robinson Curses After Blake Bortles Overthrows Ball In Practice

It looks like it’s going to be another long season for the Jacksonville Jaguars. During today’s practice, Jags wide receiver Allen Robinson was visibly frustrated with QB Blake Bortles for overthrowing a ball out of bounds.

It must be great to be a Jags fan with Bortles at the helm.

Meet Desmond Scott, The Former Duke University Running Back Who Skipped The NFL To Pursue His Dream As A Fitness Entrepreneur

Many D-1 athletes dream of elevating their game to the next level. After a couple years playing their sport in college, few things seem more aspirational than living the dream as a big time pro athlete. But — like caviar and licorice — it’s not for everyone.

Despite being more than qualified for the NFL Draft, former Duke running back Desmond Scott decided that the glitz and glamour of the NFL wasn’t for him. To many, this sounds astonishing — He was the first person at Duke (and still only the third person in the ACC) to ever tally up 1,000+ yards in rushing, receiving, and kickoff returns. Instead of the NFL, he wanted to focus on a quiet family life and training future athletes with his Durham, North Carolina-based fitness businesses: My Dose Of Healthy Fitness and Prime Athletic Training & Fitness Institute. Business is booming — This past July he cut the ribbon on a brand new, state-of-the-art 5,000-square-foot, fully-equipped facility, staffed with a team of professional trainers. They’re a full-service fitness center, offering everything from classes to meal plans.

We caught up with Desmond to talk about his days at Duke, the steps he took to achieve fitness entrepeuner success, and why the NFL just wasn’t for him.

In your own words, can you give us a little bit of a run down of your NCAA career at Duke? How would you describe it?

As a senior in high-school I was the #1 running back in the state of North Carolina and 23rd in the nation. Being one of two Four Star athletes on the Duke roster my freshman year was a pretty dope experience, one that I had to get used to. Going into my freshman I surely believed I would play and have a very important role to help with the success of the team. However the coaching staff had different thoughts for me — I was redshirted the first three games of the 2009 football season. The fourth game of the season, I became the starting running back for the next three years. With my senior year approaching and a very slim wide-receiving crew, I made the choice to switch from running back to wide receiver to complete my four years at Duke.

That choice allowed me to write my name in the Duke and ACC history books as the first person in Duke history to amass 1,000+ yards in rushing, receiving, and kickoff return. I’m still only the third person in ACC history to do that.

Instagram Photo

You mentioned that you didn’t want to go pro to pursue a career in the NFL. Can you talk a little bit about why?

God placed it on my heart early in life to be in the business of servicing and helping others. I thought this service was going to be teaching in the sense of “in a classroom”. What I didn’t know was that my classroom was going to be a fitness facility that I created and built. I also knew that I wanted to be able to enjoy my future wife and kids.

As a D-1 athlete, there’s constant pressure to stay in peak physical shape for the season. When you leave school, not so much. How did you navigate that transition, going from a regimented training program to having to do it yourself?

I wish I took my training in college as serious as I take it now. Just like every D1 athlete that leaves school says, “I’m never going to squat again” so did I. However the profession that I am in requires me to look a certain way all the time. With that being said it is much easier to lift weights and stay in shape now because I know people look to me for guidance and motivation.

What was your favorite thing to do during camp?

Favorite thing to do during camp was SLEEP. After so many hours on the field and doing film sessions, sleep at camp was precious.

Instagram Photo

What was your least favorite thing to do in camp?

Waking up super early to catch the bus to the practice facility was terrible. We only had three buses and if you missed them well…

Can you give a little run down of an ideal running back strength and conditioning program?

Being a running back you have to be well versed in many areas. Strength to take on D-linemen but the agility to make a linebacker miss, with the speed to outrun a defense back. What does that mean? You have to train for every type of situation possible making you the most versatile athlete on the field at once.

After leaving Duke, you slowly started My Dose Of Healthy Fitness and Prime Athletic Training & Fitness Institute. Why was this important to you?

After Duke I started teaching at a charter school K-6th grade. Being in the classroom I saw that it wasn’t just the kids who needed help and guidance but their parents and other adults who taught the children. Everyone needed a dose of health fitness in their life, however with MDH FITNESS didn’t just come fitness help; mental, spiritual and emotional help as well.

What are some struggles you’ve had to overcome as a fitness entrepreneur?

The biggest struggle I had and sometimes still have as a fitness entrepreneur is finding time to work myself out. I get so caught up with training others and doing administrative work I forget to workout and eat properly.

Jim Harbaugh Thinks Every Football Recruit Should Play Soccer Until 8th Grade, And His Reasons Make Sense

Jim Harbaugh Rap Video

YouTube / BaileyVEVO

Jim Harbaugh is one of the most interesting and popular coaches in all of college football. He’s turned the University of Michigan program around almost overnight. He’s returned the Wolverines to prominence on the national stage with a berth in last year’s Orange Bowl where they were beaten down by the Seminoles from my alma mater Florida State. So what if Jim Harbaugh‘s fellow coaches just ranked him as the most overrated coach in college football? He’s winning games, and he’s doing it his way.

Jim Harbaugh and Michigan currently have the #15 ranked 2018 Recruiting Class. He pulled in the #5 ranked class in 2017, and the #8 ranked class in 2016. Methinks the Wolverines will make some moves towards the top 5 before the 2018 Recruiting Season is done based on that recent history…And I say all of this because of an excerpt I just came across in a Wall Street Journal article by Ben Cohen. In the article, Harbaugh talked about how he encourages football recruits to play soccer up until 8th grade and that’s when he believes they should make the jump to playing football. He thinks soccer provides crucial foundational skills to the game of football. When QB recruits recently visited Michigan he converted the school’s indoor football field into a makeshift soccer pitch and used Lax nets as goals before having the prospective recruits play a game of soccer which he refereed himself.

There may not be anyone who loves anything as much as Jim Harbaugh loves football. But when young quarterbacks ask him how they can play football at Michigan, the coach offers some unconventional advice: play soccer, too.
Some of the country’s most coveted high-school quarterbacks visited Michigan for Harbaugh’s camp this summer ready to spend all day showing off the strength and accuracy of their arms. Harbaugh had other plans. He also made them play a sport in which they could only use their feet.

“There is really no other game like it,” Harbaugh said last month after Michigan practiced with the Italian Serie A club AS Roma . “I always encourage youngsters in America to play soccer.”
Of course he does. Harbaugh is the counterintuitive outlier in a sport that breeds conservative thinkers. In that way his unlikely embrace of soccer is perfectly Harbaughian. It’s something that seems preposterous until you think more about it, at which point it makes so much sense that you start to question why it took so long for others to figure out. (via)

The entire WSJ article is fascinating, and you can read it in full by clicking that link above if you’re a subscriber. It also explains a lot of why Jim Harbaugh had his team scrimmaging with AS Roma on their trip to Rome earlier this Summer.

There are truly endless reasons for Jim Harbaugh wanting his recruits to play soccer. It’s a test of athleticism. It shows how quickly they can think on their feet if they’re not familiar with the game. It’s a test of nimbleness. The list goes on and on and on forever.

It’s interesting, however, that Jim Harbaugh’s leading the charge with this. Given how popular soccer is in America as a youth sport you’d think that more coaches would be pushing this same narrative, no? (h/t WSJ)

Finding the Speed: Why Every Racing Fan Needs To Watch A NASCAR Race From Pit Road

$

0

“We’re having a hard time finding the speed…” That’s refrain I heard over and over again from the folks at Richard Childress Racing while wandering around the infield of Michigan International Speedway this past weekend.

Not finding the speed is a bad thing at any track, let alone at MIS — The so-called “fastest track in NASCAR.” Sometimes you find it, sometimes you don’t. With the help of a great team, Ryan Newman, driver of the bright yellow #31 Velveeta Shells and Cheese Liquid Gold Chevy, managed to find it at just the right time — Joey Logano lost a tire and the #31 Liquid Gold team shot their shot, keeping Newman out of the pit. After struggling most of the race, Newman bolted up the leaderboard to finish fourth — His third top-five finish in three races. Talking to NBC’s Jerry Bonkowski after the race, Newman elaborated on the team’s lightning in the bottle: “It seems like whenever we have this Velveeta name on the car, we wind up with a top-five (…like finishing third at Indianapolis), so we’ll keep doing it.”

As a guest of Velveeta Shells and Cheese, I spent the past weekend behind-the-scenes with the RCR team, tagging along with the #31 Liquid Gold car. Newman and his team were gracious hosts, whipping me around the track at 110MPH in the official Chevy Camaro pace car and giving tour of the team hauler, while also allowing plenty of time to chat about fishing and his 208-acre farm in North Carolina with 50 black angus cows and 15 buffalo.

Here’s that particular conversation, via the BroBible Facebook Live:

Unlike other sports, NASCAR is a sport with millions of vantage points. As a fan, the two most common are the TV experience from home and the at-the-track experience, either high up in the bleachers with where you can see all four turns or on top of an old, modified school bus while partying in the infield. But the behind-the-scenes experience — with an official Hot Pass and embedded with a team like RCR — is where you get to explore the inner-workings of what makes a NASCAR race like no sports event in America.  It’s where you get to talk race strategy between talking beards with the pit crew guys…

And nest up behind the team leaders, literally smell the rubber burning as the car squeals out of pit lane in the race:

Instagram Photo

The best thing about our behind-the-scenes weekend: It’s not just for bloggers with a media credential. This race epic weekend is yours to win! As part of a special sweepstakes, fans can go buy a box of Velveeta Shells and Cheese – one with a sticker of Ryan’s car on it, as pictured below – and enter to win the ultimate “Liquid Gold Championship Experience.” The winner will receive an all-expense paid VIP weekend to the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway to experience NASCAR up close and personal and become an honorary member of Ryan’s pit crew.

Trust me, you want one of these Velveeta Shells and Cheese team shirts. They’re the freshest looking team shirts at any NASCAR race:

Paulie Malignaggi Wants To Fight Conor McGregor On St. Patrick’s Day

Conor McGregor might have his next opponent lined up after his fight with Floyd Mayweather. McGregor’s former sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi appears to be the latest fighter looking to cash in on his bad blood with the UFC star.

After weeks of berating McGregor on Twitter for releasing leaked pictures/videos of their sparring sessions, Malignaggi spoke with MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani and told him that he feels that there is enough bad blood between the two to make for an interesting fight.

Via The MMA Hour

When you don’t like someone you don’t spar them, you fight them.’

“This weirdo didn’t do either of those things. He constantly put me in the press with these edited videos, edited pictures, and whatnot. Now, it’s picked up a ton of momentum. So yeah. So now the bad blood is there. Now we’ve gotta fight.”

We’ll need to see how he looks against Mayweather. If he looks dog shit, no one will want to see us fight.

‘As long as he doesn’t get the living shit beaten out of him, I think the demand is there to make the fight. Once this all started coming out, my eyes went to the calendar when this thing started buzzing.’

Malignaggi went on to tell Helwani that he already has a date in mind.

Ariel Helwani: You’ve looked at the calendar, St Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday, is that the dream scenario?

Malignaggi: ‘I’m a businessman, once this all started coming out, my eyes went to the calendar when this thing started buzzing.’

Paulie vs Conor would definitely get a lot of buzz and seems like the logical next fight, but we’ll have to say how Conor looks in a boxing ring before getting hyped up about this fight.

Louis CK Is Debuting A New Movie Practically Out Of Nowhere

If you’re a fan of forgettable comedies from the early 2000s, then you might remember “Pootie Tang,” Louis CK’s directorial debut that was widely panned by critics and eventually disowned by the comic himself. CK said the movie almost ruined his career, but he eventually bounced back and has gone on to direct a number of stand-up specials and create several successful series since then.

One of those series was Horace and Pete, a dramedy featuring the comedian alongside Alan Alda, Steve Buscemi, and Edie Falco (among others) that suddenly appeared on his website in January 2016. It would appear CK has a thing for dropping projects with little or no warning, because the LA Times reports he’s debuting his first motion picture in more than 15 years at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Not much is known about the film, which is titled I Love You, Daddy, but the Times shared what few details have been released:

The comedian’s new movie was shot quietly in New York earlier this year and attracted little attention from the Hollywood trades. Its distribution status is unclear. What is known: “I Love You, Daddy,” also set in New York, centers on Glen Topher, a successful television producer and writer, and his daughter China.

The black-and-white movie was filmed in 35 mm and stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Charlie Day, John Malkovich, and longtime Louis associate Pamela Adlon. It’s not entirely clear when it will be released to the general public, but based on the quality of his last few projects, it will definitely be worth whatever wait there might be.

Daniel Craig Is Still On The Fence About Returning As James Bond

When it was first announced that Daniel Craig would replace Pierce Brosnan as James Bond over a decade ago, some people feared the relatively unknown actor wasn’t fit for the part, with way too many of those people citing his blonde hair as one of the reasons he wasn’t right for the role.

However, Craig quickly went on to prove the haters wrong with 2006’s Casino Royale, which remains one of the best— if not the best— Bond movies to date. Some people might think it’s sacrilege to suggest Craig is the best Bond of all-time, but even if he’s not your number one pick, you have to admit he gives Sean Connery and Roger Moore a run for their money.

Plans for a 25th Bond movie are already in the works; the script is written and the film is slated for release on November 8, 2019. The only problem? Nobody knows who is going to play Bond. In a 2015 interview, Craig said he’d “rather slash [his] wrists” than appear in another Bond film, and he reportedly turned down a $100 million contract to star in two more movies. However, it appears he hasn’t totally ruled out reprising the role.

Craig recently appeared on a Boston radio show while promoting his newest movie, Logan Lucky, and had this to say when he was asked about returning as Bond:

“No decision has been made at the moment, there’s a lot of noise out there and nothing official has been confirmed and I’m not, like, holding out for more money or doing anything like that. It’s just all very personal decisions to be made at the moment.I know they’re desperate to get going and I would in theory love to do it, but there is no decision just yet.”

We’d prefer a decision sooner rather than later, Daniel. Don’t keep us waiting this long.

Soccer Player Drops ‘The People’s Elbow’ On A Teammate After A Goal, The Rock Responds

soccer player adebayo akinfenwa peoples elbow rock responds

WWE

Adebayo Akinfenwa, nicknamed “The Beast” and reportedly the strongest player in soccer , not only looks like he could be a professional wrestler if he wanted to become one, he also apparently is a big fan of the sports entertainment genre.

Because after scoring a goal for the second time in his Wycombe Wanderers’ victory over Port Vale in England, Akinfenwa decided to celebrate by dropping The Rock’s signature move, The People’s Elbow, on one of his more courageous teammates.

Not the best People’s Elbow ever, that might actually be this one…

…but not completely awful. In fact, once Akinfenwa tweeted that his move was inspired by The Rock, Uncle DJ naturally had to respond and he certainly approved.

Seriously, could The Rock get any more awesome?

OH! If you haven’t read the story Triple H told about how The Rock came up with The People’s Elbow you need to read it now, because it’s absolute GOLD.

Prepare To Have Your World Shattered: Larry The Cable Guy Doesn’t Have A Real Southern Accent

Larry the Cable Guy

Graham Bensinger / YouTube

Larry the Cable Guy is one of THE FACES of blue collar comedy. He was a headliner on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour with Ron White, Jeff Foxworthy, and Bill Engvall. He wears cutoff shirts, jean shorts, and a frayed camo hat wherever he goes. The dude was born on a frickin’ pig farm in Nebraska. When I think ‘redneck comedian’ he comes to mind before Jeff Foxworthy…But, despite being born on that pig farm in Nebraska, Larry the Cable Guy went to H.S. in West Palm Beach, Florida, one of the ritziest coastal towns on the East Coast and he DOESN’T EVEN HAVE A REAL SOUTHERN ACCENT.

Larry the Cable Guy describes himself as a ‘linguist chameleon’ in this interview with Graham Bensinger from back in February, and throughout the interview, Larry hops around accents with ease and shows that despite his on-stage presence he doesn’t have a Southern accent at all:

Is nothing real? If Larry the Cable Guy doesn’t even have a Southern accent, what else is the media lying to me about? What if I can stare into the Solar Eclipse next Monday without wearing those stupid ass protective glasses? What if we were never going to war with North Korea and it was all just a ruse to distract us from other shit? WHAT IS REAL?!? (via)

This Cold Brew Coffee Maker Is The Best Thing I’ve Bought Myself All Summer

Takeya Cold Brew Coffee maker

I featured the Takeya Cold Brew Coffee Maker a few weeks ago in my weekly ‘Things We Want’ gear guide, but I wanted to share it with you bros in a standalone article today. It’s hard for me to believe that just a few months ago, I was throwing money away every day at the coffee shop on cold brew when it’s so easy to make it at home.

This BPA-free, dishwasher safe plastic pitcher has a built-in infuser. You pour the coffee grounds into the infuser, drop it into the water, let it sit overnight (8 to 36 hours), and you’ve got delicious cold brew coffee waiting for you. I prefer to add a healthy dose of cinnamon into the middle of the coffee grounds, and I use the Starbucks Morning Blend which I buy in bulk online. Buy Now: $19

Takeya Cold Brew Coffee maker

Takeya Cold Brew Coffee maker

The Takeya Cold Brew Iced Coffee Maker only costs $19. You can make the cold brew coffee overnight and then remove the infuser, or you can purchase the set of two pitchers and transfer the coffee into the empty pitcher. I prefer this (this is the setup I purchased) because it enables me to always be making more cold brew coffee. I drink several cups a day and I’ve yet to run out because I always have one pitcher that I’m drinking cold brew out of and another pitcher that is brewing up delicious coffee.

I shit you not, this is the best thing I’ve purchased myself all Summer. I cannot be more genuine here. If you like cold brew coffee then you’re going to love this, it’s as simple as that.

It’s been a tough week for former second round pick Roberto Aguayo. Not only did he miss an extra point and a field goal in this weekend’s preseason game and got cut by the team, but now he has to relive it all over again on TV. In this week’s episode of Hard Knocks, Aguayo gets openly mocked by his teammates for missing field goals during practice and then he gets brutally cut by the team’s GM in front of the HBO cameras.

Here’s a quick preview of tonight’s episode.

Aguayo has been picked up by the Bears after his release from the Bucs but if he keeps missing field goals in the preseason he’s not going be there for long

Aguayo was picked up the Chicago Bears off waivers yesterday. Hopefully he can figure things out over there.

TEEBAGS Is The Latest Golf + Cornhole Game Of The Week

Another week, another golf game going viral for playing with your buddies in the backyard or at beach. This one is called TEEBAGS and it was featured in our recent round-up of best backyard golf games. It’s similar to Chippo, except TEEBAGS is a mat that covers your existing cornhole board (…as compared to Chippo, which is the whole she-bang).

The thinking for TEEBAGS is pretty simple: Most people don’t really need more cornhole boards in their garage or basement. But a golf mat that you can put on an existing cornhole board and turn it into a chipping product? Brilliant!
