Longtime Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo was highly emotional after the team’s Sweet Sixteen win. On Friday night, the Spartans advanced to the Elite Eight after defeating the Ole Miss Rebels in a hard-fought 73-70 game.
“I love these guys,” the 70-year-old coach told CBS’s Tracy Wolfson with tears in his eyes after the game. “It’s simple. They don’t quit. We’ve been a second-half team. One of these days we’re gonna be a first half team.”

While Izzo was emotional after the game, he told the media that the job was not finished until the team won a national championship.
“We don’t put up banners for great eights. We put up banners for championships.”
Michigan State will play the winner of Friday night’s game between Auburn and Michigan on Sunday for a chance to advance to the Final Four.
