I’m not usually a big fan of these recycled skit concepts on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon but ‘Camp Winnipesaukee’ is always a winner. Anytime Jimmy Fallon brings his best friend Justin Timberlake onto the show good things happen. For last night’s sketch, Jimmy not only brought J.T. onto the show but he added Keegan-Michael Key and Billy Crystal.
I’ll be honest, I’ve always been a Jimmy Fallon fan. That shit he does where he laughs at his own jokes has never bothered me even dating back to his time on SNL. He takes a lot of crap for being the blandest of the late night TV hosts (Conan, Kimmel, Colbert, etc) and it’s hard to deny that he’s the most vanilla. I’m saying all of this because I’m consistently amazed that someone who never toes the line with anything scandalous can still manage to crush the ratings and bring in A-List talent on the regular. You’d think that Colbert would be siphoning all that guest talent after the rating surge over the past 9 months, but Fallon’s still killing it somehow…Can someone explain to me why there’s not more variance in late night TV ratings?
