This video of a Redondo Beach lifeguard on a power trip has been going viral over the past 24 hours. First off, let me say that I’ve never experienced any sort of hostility whatsoever from a lifeguard and I grew up on the beach. Some of my best friends were lifeguards in college. They’re typically awesome people. But, there’s always going to be one in every crowd.
Maybe this dude was just having a shitty day and happened to get caught on camera, or maybe he’s actually living life on a power trip. Whatever the case is, this video doesn’t look great for him. The 17-year-old being berated by the lifeguard quickly complied with his request to take his boogie board off the trash can. But that wasn’t enough for the lifeguard who we see on camera giving the teen a tongue lashing. As a teen, that dude could’ve easily been intimidated by the ‘authority figure’ but he instead handled it pretty spectacularly, and now the video’s gone viral with half a million views overnight.
