Lawrence Phillips, a former All-American running back with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, was the 6th overall pick in the 1996 NFL draft and believed to be a game-changing runner who could take the league by storm.
Instead, Phillips found himself in major off-the-field incidents that led to him being incarcerated and, tragically, just found dead in his cell from an apparent suicide.
Phillips joins a long list of players who starred on the college gridiron, yet flopped in the pros for whatever reason, sadly finding themselves going from All-Americans to out of football and in trouble with the law.
