This Handwritten Letter Tupac Penned While In Jail In 1995 Sold For As Much As A Goddamn Lamborghini

In April of this year, an me handwritten love letter Tupac Shakur wrote a high school crush sold for a whopping $35,000 at an auction. But that’s some JV shit compared to the letter written by Pac during his 9-month incarceration stint at New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility in 1995. Tupac was sentenced on charges of sexually abusing a fan.

The letter, titled “Is Thug Life Dead?,” was originally intended for his fans by was sent to Death Row Records publicist Nina Bhadreshwar, in May 6, 1995. The original asking price for the 4-page letter was $11,000. It sold for $172,725.

Goldin Auctions


According to Ken Goldin of Goldin Auctions, the winning bidder is a well-known person who beat out a popular entertainer to take home the coveted item.

“A regular Playa plays women. A Boss Playa plays life. A Boss Playa is a thinker, a leader, a builder, a moneymaker, a souljah, a teacher and most of all, a Man! I want all my homiez to know there is another level.”

He concludes:

“Beware of Playa Haters and evil envious ‘homiez’. They will bring u harm. It ain’t all good my people be aware! Hopefully this will do some of u some good. If it does then I don’t sit in jail in vain.”

According to Complex, Pac promises in the letter to drop another album, “not 4 me but 4 the homeiz,” adding “It will shake the world!” He was let out of prison in October 12, 1995 and dropped All Eyez On Me just four months later. The album ended up going certified Diamond and is widely considered a crowning achievement in rap.
