Report: Jose Fernandez Had Cocaine, High Levels Of Alcohol In His System On Night Of Fatal Boat Crash

Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez had cocaine and high levels of alcohol in his system during the fatal boat crash that killed himself and two other passengers according to the Miami-Dade medical examiner.

The medical examiner found .147 percent alcohol in his blood which is nearly twice above the state’s .08 percent limit for drunk driving.

Florida Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez had cocaine and alcohol in his system when he and two friends were killed in a September boating accident, according to an autopsy report obtained by USA TODAY Sports on Saturday.

Fernandez’s blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit, according to the toxicology results included in the report by the Miami-Dade County

Cocaine was also found in the system of Rivero, who had a blood alcohol content of .065. Macias’ BAC was .044. All three were found to have sustained blunt-force injuries to the head.

Authorities are still unsure and who was behind the wheel on the night of the crash.
