It’s only September and authorities in Tuscaloosa are already making major drug busts. The most recent person popped is 21-year-old Ashley Rose Newman, who authorities say was trafficking MDMA, the deadly Fentanyl, cocaine, and a bunch of other amphetamines. I’m a little surprised she was a theater student, but hey — nothing shocks me anymore. Those thespians like to party and profit off it, apparently. via AL.com:
Ashley Rose Newman, 21, is charged with trafficking in Fentanyl, unlawful possession with intent to distribute, three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, said Tuscaloosa police Lt. Teena Richardson.
According to Newman’s Facebook page, she is a theater student at UA. She is from Mandeville, Louisiana.
Newman was arrested by agents from the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force after a raid at her home in the 300 block of 27th Street North at 9 a.m. today. Richardson said agents recovered 23.3 grams of Fentanyl, a quantity of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), amphetamine, cocaine HCL, marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia.
If convicted, I imagine her time in prison could be pretty interesting considering her background in the performing arts. I think the only thing that could actually make Orange Is The New Black enjoyable at this point is introducing a drug dealing theater student. That’d make for an interesting dynamic in lock-up.
