Actress Alexis Arquette passed away this Sunday after falling ill at the age of 47. She was known for roles in Pulp Fiction and The Wedding Singer, but also became an activist for transgender rights after transitioning to a woman, an experience documented in the film Alexis Arquette: My Brother.
So, of course, some shitball ex tried to capitalize on her death by trying to sell a sex tape of her.
The video was immediately snatched up by a porn company, but not for the reason you may think.
XHamster paid $25,000 for the tapes and immediately destroyed them.
That’s right. They got rid of every copy. XHamster spokesman Alex Hawkins spoke to the Daily Mail about the decision.
‘Ms. Arquette was an icon and activist in the trans community and we could not see someone smear her memory the way the selling party was trying to do.’
‘We acquired the tape and subsequently destroyed all copies of it.’
‘We hope people will remember Ms. Arquette for the activist that she was and that her memory will continue to live on.’
That’s so fucking chill. How is it that porn companies (and XHamster specifically) are doing better things for the world than anyone else these days?
