Trent Dilfer narrowly escaped becoming the victim of a homicide on Sunday NFL Countdown after expressing his stance against the Colin Kaepernick protests. Dilfer has a history of saying of head-scratching shit–namely calling the Patriots a “weak team” at the beginning of the 2014 season (when they went on to win the Super Bowl) and of course this intellectual quote: “You cannot lose games in the NFL and still win.” He really said that. Holy shit.
Dilfer took a hard line stance against Kaepernick’s National Anthem protests, which are in stark contrast to Randy Moss applauding Kap.
Dilfer’s words exactly:
“The big thing that hit me through all this was this is a backup quarterback whose job is to be quiet, and sit in the shadows and get the starter ready to play Week 1.
“Yet he chose a time where all of a sudden he became the center of attention. And it has disrupted that organization. It has caused friction. And it’s torn at the fabric of the team.”
