Amanda Knox was twice convicted by the Italian courts for murdering her roommate abroad in 2007. Both of the convictions were overturned the country’s highest appeals court, but not before the 29-year-old America student spent eight years in an Italian prison, four for each conviction.
The public opinion on Knox’s involvement in the brutal murder of her British roommate Meredith Kercher is divisive. There are some who believe the prosecution, that claims that the murder was a result of a four-way sex game in which Miss Knox, Mr Sollecito, and a drug dealer named Rudy Guede forced Meredith to submit to sex and then killed her with a knife. But others, who consider that motive to be flimsy, point to the fact that there was no definitive murder weapon found and extremely questionable DNA evidence.
This details of this decade-old crime are still hazy to me and many others, but a widely-anticipated Netflix documentary entitled ‘Amanda Knox’ is set to be released on September 30th should help clear the haze.
The Netflix original documentary promises ‘unprecedented access to key people involved and never-before-seen archival material’ and will feature interviews with Amanda, her co-defendant and then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and Italian prosecutor Giuliano Mignini, according to Daily Mail.
