Redskins legendary cornerback Darrell Green aka the “Ageless Wonder” has been following the triumphs and tribulations of Robert Griffin III since he came into the league four years back. His assessment: not impressed. Both on and off the field.
Green, who played an astounding 20 seasons for the Redskins, joined the Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan on Tuesday and didn’t hold back his opinion on the current Browns QB.
Saying that he’d be “surprised” if things worked out for RGIII in Cleveland and that he considered Kirk Cousins the Redskins’s best option at quarterback even during RGIII’s Pro Bowl year were compliments compared to what he had to say about RGIII’s life outside of football.
“I don’t appreciate his moral stance, what he’s doing with his wife, his kids. I mean, he’s jacked up, and that’s not good. I don’t appreciate that. When you have responsibilities — young people looking at you, [he] had this whole city in his hands — and when you do that, you’re responsible for more than yourself and that’s selfish and that’s childish, the way he’s operating.”
“He’s so famous and he never took one snap, he was famous, and that’s hard to deal with I guess. That’s just hard to manage, but he didn’t manage it well at all.”
Of course Green is talking about RGIII filing for divorce from his college sweetheart Rebecca Liddicoat (just a little over a year after having a child with her) and immediately launching into a full blown relationship with FSU track and field athlete Grete Šadeiko. Green also could be talking about the tattoo he got of Grete’s name on this throwing arm a couple weeks back. Seems a bit outrageous, no?
Full disclosure: If Grete asked me to get her name tattooed on my arm, I’d probably do it. She’s the blonde on the right.
Today, RGIII was asked how he felt about Green’s comments.
Darrell, stay in your lane and let the man do his thing. He’s not hurting anyone. Well besides his wife and kid.
Actually, after seeing this Instagram post/caption he just posted to his Instagram, he’s setting himself up for a roast. Please have at him, Darrell.
