Turns out, a 55-gallon drum of anal lube wasn’t the only thing waiting for Brock Turner on the doorstep of his Ohio home upon his release from prison on Friday.
The former Stanford student and one time Olympic swimming hopeful who registered as a lifelong sex offender in the state of Ohio, was met with a dozen armed protesters outside of his parent’s Sugarcreek Township, Ohio, home Friday.
Protestors carried signs that read “Castrate rapists,” and “If I rape Brock will I only do 3 months?” The sidewalk outside his home was also chalked with “Shoot your local rapist.”
Buzzfeed reports that the Sugarcreek Township Police officers were seen watching the protest from a distance, and firefighters reportedly arrived Friday night to clear the chalk messages with fire hoses.
Turner, who was 19 at the time of the assault, will also have to check in with police every three months for as long as he lives in the county, according to Business Insider.
Of course people have every right to be enraged at Brock’s cushy sentence for such a heinous crime, but I can’t help but feel for his parents who have been thrown in the cross fire. Granted, Brock’s father did start a legal defense fund for his child a few months back and his mother displayed her aloofness by claiming that she was so distraught she couldn’t decorate her new home, but being reminded 24/7 that your golden boy child is a rapist has to be a tough pill to swallow.
