We’ve already established here at BroBible that wings are pretty much the crack cocaine of bar foods. If you have 15 hot buffalo wings in front of you, I’d be willing to be that you’d stuff your face with all 15 of them rather than leaving a few uneaten wings in your basket.
We really like chicken wings here in New York. We deep fry ’em, smoke ’em, and grill ’em, slathering them in all sorts of sauce creations. But this Syracuse man and his son love wings so much that they stole almost $42,000 wings from a restaurant before trying to sell them out of the back of truck.
Onondaga County Court Judge Anthony Aloi had three words for a Syracuse cook who was sentenced today for stealing more than $40,000 from his employer: “Expensive chicken wings.”
Paul Rojek, 57, was sentenced today to one to three years in state prison for stealing $41,896 in chicken wings from Twin Trees Too. Rojek is accused of billing the Milton Avenue restaurant for the chicken wings, which he then sold at a reduced price from the back of a pickup truck or from a warehouse, police and prosecutors said.
Rojek pleaded guilty in April to grand larceny. In addition to the prison sentence, Rojek was ordered to pay nearly $42,000 in restitution.
We weep for Twin Trees Too for having their precious wing inventory stolen. No bar in Upstate New York should ever have to go wingless like that.
Thankfully, justice has been served.
