Actor Ron Lester, best known for his role as Billy Bob in the 1999 high school football movie Varsity Blues, has passed away at a Dallas hospital on Friday.
Lester had been hospitalized for about four months with a litany of health problems including issues with his liver, kidneys and heart. At approximately 9 p.m. on Friday with his fiancée by his side, Lester was taken off of life support and died. He was only 45-years-old.
His friend Dave Bradley gave details.
Besides Varsity Blues, Lester also appeared in Not Another Teen Movie, Freaks and Geeks and CSI: NY. He had continued to work despite his ailments, and he appears in a new movie titled Bomb City that is set to come out in 2017.
Despite his health problems, he was apparently doing well mentally and emotionally because of his fiancée Jennifer.
R.I.P. Ron Lester.
