At Least 50 Dead In Mass Shooting At Gay Nightclub In Orlando

Making snap judgements on people’s decisions when an enraged gunman is mercilessly spraying bullets in a confined area is not something I’m qualified to assess. The horror that every one of those club goers must have been experiencing was likely unfathomable.

But as details still flood in about that harrowing night that left 49 dead, an interesting storyline has come into play–the actions of survivor Luis Burbano.

As the chaos ensued, Burbano saw people hurrying through a small ’employee’s only’ door hidden behind a curtain, and followed suit. On the other side of the door was a narrow hallway where Burbano says 20 people were piling up and crawling over each other trying to get to the exit door. In an attempt to halt the overcrowding, Luis then decided to shut the door behind him, even after one witness describes people banging on the door screaming “Let us out!”

When Fox News’ Megyn Kelly asked if he had any concern that he was preventing others from escaping, Luis said this:

‘That was on my mind,’ Burbano said. ‘There was banging, there was pushing of the door…but at that point in time, I just tried doing what I thought would be best at that moment because [the gunshots were] getting louder and getting closer.’

Check out the full interview below.

In another interview, Burbano said he doesn’t feel lucky for making it out alive, adding: ‘Someone told me I got a second chance at life, and I say “Is that what this is?”

‘I regret it. I regret that second chance.’
