Former Stanford student and swimmer Brock Turner, who received a six-month sentence after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old unconscious woman behind a dumpster, has seemingly become a polarizing figure. In fact, studies show that a large percentage of people don’t even consider Brock having sex with a lifeless body rape.
Let’s remind ourselves of how the Team Brock has conducted themselves post-conviction. The privilege and delusion is mind-boggling.
- Brock wrote a letter to the victim and the judge, not ONCE using the word ‘sorry.’
- A letter from Brock’s childhood friend to the judge: “I don’t think it’s fair to base the fate of the next ten + years of his life on the decision of a girl who doesn’t remember anything but the amount she drank to press charges against him.”
- Brock’s father essentially said his kid served his punishment because he’s too depressed to eat steak.
- Brock’s mother wrote a letter nearly four pages long and doesn’t mention the victim of the sexual assault once, but revealed she’s so worried about her son, she simply cannot decorate her new house.
In the latest asinine, out-of-touch move by the Turner clan, Brock’s father has opened a legal defense fund for his son at the Wright-Patt Credit Union, according to CBS News.
In early May, a woman who described herself as “a lifelong friend, mother and person who has watched this family grow” started a Facebook page titled “Turner Family Support Fund” on behalf of Brock Turner’s parents, Dan and Carleen, according to WHIO.
The page has been taken down. While it was live, it gave the 40 or so members who liked the page directions on how to donate to a Wright-Patt Credit Union account to “help ease the financial burden that this situation has caused.”
“(Turner’s parents) are dealing with a monumental life-changing and tragic situation with Brock, and their expenses continue to mount. As a mother and friend, I would do anything to help my child and save him,” the supporter wrote on the page. “I know that while we are not experiencing what they are feeling, my heart and faith continue to want to help and be supportive.”
Further, Facebook pages like Brock Turner Family Support are being created by his supporters that are nothing short of repulsive.
It’s crazy to me how adamantly people will defend such a deplorable act simply because the alleged perpetrator doesn’t fit the mold of your prototypical criminal. The disrespectful attempts his family keeps making to blame it on ‘drinking culture’ and ‘lapse in judgement’ while shamelessly treating the victim as an afterthought, is actually resonating with some people. In my correct opinion, if you have rape a passed out chick behind a dumpster, it doesn’t matter if you can do quantum physics and the fucking backstroke, you are a royal piece of shit and deserve to be treated like one.
