A lawsuit alleges that 52-year-old Joanne Del Prete-Rosten, the owner of New York-based clothing company Canto NYC, fired 39-year-old employee Daniel Coyle because he refused to have sex with her. Coyle claims that he declined the advances of the married fashion designer, which prompted her to fire him.
Coyle met Joanne three years ago at Pocono Raceway, and the pair quickly became an item, having sex twice in two weeks. Del Prete-Rosten hired Coyle as chief operating officer of her company. He agreed to a reduced $1,200 weekly salary in exchange for a 10 percent ownership stake in the business, which sells $400 race-car-inspired leather tops and pants.
However, when he started at the company in June 2013 he found out that Del Prete-Rosten was married, and her husband was an executive at the company. Coyle said he immediately stopped the illicit tryst. But Del Prete-Rosten was on the prowl, and wanted to be with Coyle, the sexual harassment lawsuit states.
“I could love somebody like you,” Del Prete-Rosten allegedly told Coyle.
Coyle stated that he continually refused her advances. She even bragged “on multiple occasions … she engaged in sexual intercourse with a person who penetrated her with a gun,” according to Coyle’s Manhattan federal court papers.
She also told Coyle to take her assistant out and “fuck her brains out,” and she let him know that “she masturbated with another person, and she thought about Mr. Coyle while masturbating,” according to the lawsuit.
Coyle claims he suffered through the “vulgar conduct” because he feared losing his job and was fired when he finally complained.
Del Prete-Rosten’s lawyer, told the New York Post that Coyle was a “certified extortionist.” Attorney Jonathan Sack said, “He’s got nothing better to do than file spurious lawsuits.”
