Carmelo Anthony is tired of not getting calls from officials and finally offered some reasoning as to why he’s so frustrated. And the summation of said reasoning is that he’s just too overpowering and doesn’t house the ability to flop. Here’s ‘Melo:
“See, I don’t know how to flop, that’s the thing. Nowadays guys know how to flop, get hit and put their head back. I don’t know how to flop. I won’t even look right trying to do that. I won’t even feel right trying it.”
I like where ‘Melo’s headed with this one. He’s basically calling out all the floppers — and there are many — by saying he doesn’t even know how to flop and refuses to try it.
As the late Own Hart once said, enough is enough and it’s time for a change. And that change doesn’t necessarily apply to the rules, because guys are already getting fined for their blatant flop work. It’s more about taking into account the player at hand.
“A lot of times I get hit and I still continue to get to my spots just because I’m big and strong. A lot of guys get hit and they stop. I’m not saying they’re flopping, but they’re lighter than me. I can take a lot more physicality.”
Just like Gronk gets annoyed for weak OPI calls while not getting flags in his favor when he’s getting mugged by DBs, Anthony is getting increasingly pissed off for similar reasons. Can hardly blame the guy.
Important, but not related, ‘Melo also offered up the following quote in his media session with reporters: “There’s no egos on this team.”
Hilarious. As it stands right now, this is the clubhouse leader for funniest quote of the NBA season.
