Every single guy has that terrible memory when, unexpectedly, something hits his balls and sends him into a hurtin’ like no one can ever describe. And while something accidental hurts no matter what, try taking a foul ball in a major league game to the nutsack!
That’s what happened to Baltimore Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph, who had to be rushed to the hospital after his family jewels got smashed by a ball off the bat of Travis Shaw the other day.
After cringing and grabbing your own balls out of respect and fear, more details came out today about the severity of Joseph’s injury, which has sent him to the 15-day DL, per FOX Sports:
“Decided to take [Joseph] down and get him checked out,” Showalter said. “The urologist didn’t like some things and they went in and [did] what they did.”
“I’m not going to get into all the details, but definitely DL…there’s not a whole lot of history that, if you have this done and you’re a catcher, when will you be able to catch again. So obviously not in those 15 days.”
Damn, man, that’s some serious stuff going down below for Joseph, so here’s to him getting back on his feet and never, ever, ever again risking the life of any future children in the future.
