Montreal Canadiens P.K. Subban may be one of the most generous athletes in professional sports.

After penning an eight-year, $72 million deal that made him one of the highest paid players in the NHL, he decided to donate a significant portion of that to the Montreal Children’s Hospital. How significant? 10 MILLION DOLLARS. According to the CBC, the hospital is calling it “the largest philanthropic commitment by a sports figure in Canadian history.”

Although 10 million dollars is a large sum of money by any standard, it’s one thing to write a check and a whole other thing to donate time and energy around the holidays to make others’ lives better.

P.K. has gone above and beyond in both ways.

Subban partnered with the Air Canada Foundation to create a winter wonderland in the hospital’s atrium for sick children and their parents. The charismatic defenseman looks to be truly enjoying his time with the kids, who are obviously enamored with him. Upon providing candy, face and nail painting stations, and gifts for the children and their parents–Subban and the Air Canada Foundation gave the mother of a child whose home burned down a $5,000 check to get back on their feet.

The child to Subban: “I love you.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again–there are no brakes on the Feels Train. Especially when the conductor is P.K. Subban.
