Metropolitan Police

It is a sad day for lovers of edible marijuana, for the Lords they pray to, the Kush Gods, have been arrested.

No, for like real.

A group of Bros in Washington, D.C. who passed out free edible pot treats (in exchange for “donations”) were arrested today. I guess because the practice is “illegal.” Via The Washington Post:

Two people were arrested and charged with distributing marijuana and could appear in D.C. Superior Court Wednesday afternoon. Police identified them as Nicholas Cunningham, 30, of Alabama, and Evonne Lidoff, 18, of Northwest Washington. The police arrest warrant application identifies Cunningham as the operator of “Kush Gods.”

Authorities also seized three vehicles, including a Mercedes, adorned with the logo “kushgod.com,” pictures of a marijuana plant and a phone number.

That’s because uhh they were pretty much selling it

While the proprietor of “Kush Gods” called his exchanges “donations,” he openly told several news organizations that the transactions were in effect sales. In the warrant, police said undercover officers made several buys from the truck, including $200 bags of marijuana in its leaf form.

Yea maybe don’t boast about how you are breaking the law.

D.C. police made the arrests two weeks after the company was profiled in New York Magazine, which wrote the vehicles are “one of the few outward signs that marijuana is legal in the nation’s capital.” In that article, the company founder, identified as Nycholas Kush God, said, “The brownies, each package is pretty much $10.”

But other than the law breaking, it was basically no different than a taco truck.

The business had been getting more and more brazen since it opened a few months after small amounts of marijuana were decriminalized in the District in February. People can follow Kush God on Twitter to learn the locations of its vehicles — usually along the U Street and H Street corridors, and in Adams Morgan — and it sold a variety of drug-infused goods, including brownies, cookies and gummies.

So when you hit your knees tonight, or the bong, send your prayers to the Kush Gods.
