On Saturday night, President Obama participated in the final White House Correspondents’ Dinner of his presidency. Now whatever your politics are, if you look at Obama on strictly his ability to tell jokes effectively and with great timing, you have to admit he’s very funny, especially when you factor in that he’s a nerd politician and not Chris Rock. Sure he has joke writers, and they write some fantastic material, but the POTUS has a tremendous delivery.
Obama squared off against Donald Trump during his speech, which is to be expected since he is the leading GOP presidential candidate. Their rivalry goes back to 2011 when Trump questioned Obama’s actual birthplace and accused him of being born in Kenya. During the 2011 WHCD, Obama addressed Trump’s allegations by poking fun of the Donald. Fast forward to Saturday night’s dinner, Trump was apparently invited to the gala, but he did not attend, and Obama took some jabs at the leading GOP candidate.
Last week while in Indiana, Ted Cruz attempted to recreate a famous scene from Hoosiers in the very gym that the legendary movie was filmed. Sadly for Cruz, things went to shit when he inexplicably called the basketball hoop a “basketball ring.” Obama took Cruz to task for his gaffe.
However, it was not only Republicans that Obama put on blast. Barack slammed Hillary Clinton, Obama’s former secretary of state, for the Democratic frontrunner’s inability to connect with young voters, comparing her to your technologically inadequate relative who can’t work even work Facebook. “Dear America, did you get my poke? Is it appearing on your wall? I’m not sure I’m using this right. Love, Aunt Hillary,” Obama joked.
Obama also criticized Hillary for her cringeworthy “CPT” AKA “Colored People Time” “joke” she made with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio last month.
Obama did support Hillary and alluded that she would be the next commander-in-chief.
The President made fun of democratic socialist Bernie Sanders, and even gets in a communism dig on the Democratic presidential candidate.
Barack did a skit on what he will do with all his free time after his term as President of the United States ends.
Obama even made a reference to him smoking weed back in college.
And Barack left the stage with a literal mic drop.
