Chicago Blackhawks prospect Garret Ross—who was currently playing for the team’s minor league affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs—has been suspended indefinitely by the organization over allegations that the 23-year-old shared an image of a woman engaged in a sex act without her consent.
After finding out about the accusations against Ross, which is a felony, here’s the statement the Blackhawks released, per ESPN:
“At that time, we excused Garret from team activities pending our preliminary review of the matter. After further review, we have determined to suspend Garret indefinitely pending the outcome of the legal process. Because this is a pending legal proceeding, we will have no further comment at this time.”
TMZ Sports reported that Ross was charged with one felony count of “non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images,” which, if convicted, carries a prison sentence of up to three years.
According to past court reports, a Sycamore, Illinois woman said that she exchanged nude video and pictures with one of Ross’ Icehogs’ teammates before realizing the player had a girlfriend, ending her relationship with him.
Ross is due back in court next week.
