It’s been a few weeks since the Game of Thrones Season 7 finale that set the stage for the epic final season of HBO’s award-winning Fantasy series. I’ve made no attempts to hide the fact that Arya Stark is my favorite Game of Thrones character, but if I had to choose a second favorite it might very well be The Hound.
I’d have to think about this longer, but he’s definitely in the running for 2nd favorite. In fact, even as HBO made Arya more badass over the course of Season 7 I found myself rooting for her less because they’ve turned her into a cyborg/emotionless assassin, and she’s all but lost that grit that made her a total savage amongst badasses.
The Hound started off as Prince Joffrey’s personal bodyguard and has gone on to have a character arc that nobody could’ve predicted. Much like Jamie Lannister, they took one of the most reviled people in the show and made them one of your favorites. I dare say that The Hound will be there at the end of the series. I can’t think of a single valid reason the show’s writers would have for killing him off other than to break Twitter during the series finale.
We’re months (years?) away from the Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere. In the meantime, we’ll have to make due with supercuts like this one which showcases just how fuckin’ funny The Hound is.
