Becky ‘Ice Box’ O’Shea WHO!? There’s a new sheriff in town, and she goes by the name of Holly Neher. You had a good run, O’Shea.
Neher, a student at Hollywood Hills HS in Florida, became the first female quarterback from her school (and possibly the entire state), to throw a touchdown pass in a game.
The 5’2” Neher threw a 43-yard toss last week against rival Hallandale in a 21-7 loss on her first ever pass attempt.
Holly’s coach Brandon Graham spoke highly of only the second girl to make the varsity roster in her program’s 51-year history.
“Whether it’s a female or male quarterback or a ninth or twelfth grader, you want someone who isn’t afraid to make a mistake and who knows they’re going to get yelled at from time to time,” Graham told ABC.
“There is something about her that is so inspiring for her teammates. They want to follow her.”
Neher’s message for other girls looking to try their hand at a man’s sport:
“I hope that they all see how small how I am and no matter what mindset or color, race, size, gender, you can do anything you want.”
No no no. I don’t think you heard me right, Becky. You’re fired.
